'Routine' is the black-comedy feature I am currently developing with Aaron Trinder of Trinder Films. The script follows a troubled stand-up comedian, Don Mawby, on the night of the most important show of his life. His marriage may have just collapsed and he may be living in his car, but this is a gig he simply can not miss. He has been planning this one for some time.
As Don arrives at the venue with a loaded gun tucked into his belt, he knows this could possibly be the last set he will ever perform. Don is determined to go out in style with a routine in which he tells some hard truths, settles some old scores and takes revenge on the critic he blames for ruining his life.
But where does the routine end and the real world begin? Who are the surprise guests Don has invited to witness his greatest on-stage moment? And what the hell is the 'Big Ending' he keeps locked inside his battered suitcase?
We will be updating this page with developments on the film as and when they happen. I have now finished the fourth draft of our script and are ready to move forward with the mission to secure funding, locations and cast with the aim to lock down production dates. If you are interested in talking to us about the project, getting involved, or want to view our script and Look Book, please don't hesitate to get in contact via the 'Contact' page of this website.
We are also about to launch a podcast that will chart the development of our creative process and take you, step-by-step through the struggle to get a low-budget feature film from page to screen. Once we have launched the podcast, you will be able to listen on iTunes and via the 'Podcast' page of this website. More news on this to follow soon.
